The long anticipated film of Marvel comic’s “The Avengers” has found a new director in Joss Whedon, who is famous for working on Doll House, Buffy, Angel, Firefly and the film Serenity.

He will also be rewriting the original Zak Penn script to bring into line with his own plans and how he sees the film going.

What we do about this film is that it is scheduled for a May 2012 release and this where fans of science fiction will finally get to see Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury – all in the same movie.

Which should be quite a task even for Joss Whedon – handling one super hero in a single movie is usually challenge enough, though we’ve seen X-Men do well, at the expense of character development for most of the cast.

There is no doubt that The Avengers is going to be a major film event and with all of the pieces falling into place, things look set to move.
