Imagine the world biggest science fiction convention coming to London, well that could be happening in 2014 as a committee has been set up to coordinate the plan to bring the 72nd World Science Fiction Convention or as it is also known The Worldcon to London during the summer of 2014!
The Worldcon is one of the main events in the science fiction annual calendar with awards such as the Hugo’s being awarded at the event.
The event has frequently travelled outside of the USA, such as in Europe, Australia and the Far East. However, the event has not been held in London since 1965.
Should the bid be successful it will take place between the 14th and 18th August 2014, at the Excel Centre.
Further details of the bid plans and how you can get involved are available on the bids Website.

Please note that the Hugo Awards are named after pioneering SF editor Hugo Gernsback and therefore should not appear in all capital letters.
Also, the Worldcon has been held outside the US a total of 16 times, or nearly 25%, which seems like more than “a few occasions.”
Good point JaniceG – was at Glasgow Worldcon only a few years ago.
