Sci-Fi Channel showed too many adverts
Watching satellite or cable TV often means an abundance of adverts, it just becomes a way of life that during an hour’s show it seems that we only actually get around three quarters of an hour’s worth of action.
In fact, it turns out that apparently the amount of advertising under the broadcasting code is set at just twelve minutes worth of adverts per hour.
Unfortunately, for the Sci-Fi Channel it seems that on the 20th December 2009 between 12 pm and 1 pm, the channel exceeded its remit by broadcasting sixteen minutes of adverts.
The Sci-Fi Channel told the regulator Ofcom that further training would be given to staff, even though the same thing occurred a month earlier.
Ofcom concluded that it would consider tougher sanctions if this happens any more.
