Before Avatar, the idea of 3D TV was limited to the occasional film or event, but with the launch of the film, an industry is growing behind it and by the end of the year, 3D TV in the home will become a reality for many households.
But it seems even by making an investment of around £3,000 for the 3D TV equipment fans of the film that started it all off will have to make do with a 2D version of Avatar when it is released on DVD and Blu-ray in April.
From 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s point of view the equipment will not actually be ready in time for the launch anyhow, so there is no point.
Of course, there is option to release the film in 3D at a later date.
