The disaster movie 2012 has been getting a mixed reaction at the box office around the world, in fact there talk that the movie could be heading for a disaster of its own in the finance department.
But in China the response has been entirely different, breaking box office records to become the second largest foreign film to be shown in the country, taking a massive $58.6 million, which is around ten per cent of films global box office takings.
This comes very close to the $62.96 million brought in by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Of course, on the 1st of January James Cameron’s 3D movie Avatar will be released and it is a foregone conclusion that this film is bound to hit the same levels of revenue if not more.
