The much awaited premiere of the US hit show FlashForward did well for Five with 3.2 million viewers tuning in to see the entire population of Earth blackout for two minutes and seventeen seconds, only to awake with a vision of their own future.

For Five, this has meant a serious increase in viewers, normally the 9pm to 10pm slot would be expected to achieve around seven per cent of the total UK viewing figures, but FlashForward collected a thirteen per cent share of the total viewing figures.

However, the BBC took the top spot for viewing figures, with Waking the Dead attracting a massive 6.3 million viewers, which is a twenty six per cent share of the total viewers for that particular time slot.

As for FlashForward, it will be the next few episodes that demonstrate exactly how well the show is going to here in the UK.
