The rebirth of Star Trek will boldly go where many men and women have gone before, and that is to produce a run of films.
Star Trek 2 has been in the pipeline for some time, but according to screenwriter Roberto Orci, Star Trek 3 is also being planned, in fact there is a rumour that the next film will be a two parter, with second film ending on a cliffhanger.
This would work well for Star Trek and should go down well with the fans, but one thing that may be a surprise is the latest rumour! It is being put around that after the third film a TV series could be in the pipeline.
Could Star Trek go back to small screen and be a success? There is an experienced team in place if it can be done they are the ones to make it so!

Yay! but no surprise on the 3rd movie, it seems to be the norm these days… sign the actors to a trilogy so you can cash in on the popularity if the first movie is successful.
I hate movie cliffhangers. It was a fail for the Matrix, it will be a fail for Trek.
Series could be good… are the same team (Bad Robot etc) going to be making it?
If a new series is done, in all likely hood it would not be from the perspective of JJ Trek since that property is soley owned by Viacom Paramount Pictures. The TV rights and the rest of Star Trek are owned by CBS Parmount Televsion thankfully. Wich means in all likely hood the new series will be a continuation of the true Trek time line.
Well Garth, I hope the new series does follow the true Trek time line. For those of us who are familiar with Star Trek since TNG, it will be nice to have a familiar time line that seems to have continues from TNG through to DS9 and Voyager.
I just wish they wouldn’t wait the years to make the 3rd movie. Why not get on it now? I’m effing desperate for another Trek series.
Viacom Paramount Pictures and CBS Paramount Television both have one thing in common – PARAMOUNT.
The two divisions could get together and jointly develop a new series.
I hope they do a new series but it should go down the new timeline not the old one because whats the point in that the originals are the best and they always seem to mess it up when they try to recreate an original film or series. Plus the new timeline would bring new story lines and a different aspect with the Vulcan’s losing there home planet and not being able to interfere with the federation as much. Anyway we will see and what ever they do I will watch it. Its Star Trek.
I don’t think a new tv series would work there has been a new animated series waiting to be picked up for years and that looked interesting but a new live action series would be complicated (using the prime timeline or new timeline?) wouldn’t work how many new places could you visit if there was a new series it would have to be radically different and colourful! Enterprise was as colourful as a black and white film
For those who don’t know Paramount is only allowed to do the movies, and CBS is only allowed to do the series’s. Last I heard, one of the big guys at CBS dislikes Star Trek and is not keen on any more series from the beloved universe. But, if it does happen, that would be awesome
