US fans of the hit show Eureka were treated to a mid season return of the hit show. It is interesting that the fans have adopted this format as a science fiction series, as it deals with an unusual small town in the American northwest that accommodates some of the world’s top scientists.

Yet it has been compared, as a light hearted cross between the X Files and Northern Exposure, whether that is a reflection on location or stories is a matter of opinion.

The return of the series to SyFy marks the newly revamped channel that has steered away from pure science fiction, probably because it is getting a thin on the ground. However, programmes like Eli Stone and Eureka stretch the boundaries for the channel and at the same time bring in a varied content for the viewer.
