The UK Sci-Fi channel has managed to snap up the latest offering from the director of Spider Man, Sam Raimi.

The Legend of the Seeker is a fantasy drama series from the Disney/ABC/ESPN Television stable will be seen first on Sci-Fi in August.

The channel has committed itself to the first two series, the first of which will consist of twenty two, one hour episodes, so there is going to be a lot of mileage in this series.

The story falls under the sword and sorcery genre, it follows woodsman Richard Cypher played by Craig Horner. He happens to have magical powers and uses them to fight against the evil Darken Rahl and his army.

The series is based around the “Sword of Truth” novels by Terry Gookind.
