During the eighties, there was a run of werewolf based films, “The Howling” being the most prominent.
But there were a few films that were edgy enough to be classed as a horror, but because of the way that they were made these film actually became classics in their own right, purely because these films took the original storyline and mixed it up with a the eighties lifestyle.
An American Werewolf in London is such a film and despite the filmmaker John Landis confirming that his original version will be coming out on Blu-ray this summer, he also confirms that the remake rights have be acquired by Dimension Films.
The original film was dark yet funny in places but that was a sign of the times, during the eighties nothing was taken seriously!
The story is ripe to be remade, although it has to be said that the sequel An American Werewolf in Paris bombed badly.
