With a budget of just $30 million, the eagerly anticipated film of the summer “District 9” has begun a viral campaign that bolsters the films storyline of what would happen if an alien ship landed on earth.

In this story, the aliens are rounded up, forced to serve their human masters and live in a ghetto named District 9.

It is a story of modern day apartheid and the viral campaign uses this to good effect with posters looking as if they are real public announcements and on some bus benches signs reading
“BUS BENCHES FOR HUMANS ONLY” can be found.

The main thrust of the marketing is D-9.com this is run by the fictional company Multinational United (MNU), to enter the site the user must declare if they are Human or Non-Human.
